Spotify for Artists gives you direct access to the tools behind your artist profile. Once approved, you can update your images and biography, review streaming and audience data, manage your team, and pitch eligible unreleased music to Spotify’s editorial team.
Spotify for Artists is free and does not require you to be signed to a record label.
Your Profile Must Be Created First
You cannot manually create an artist profile on Spotify. Spotify creates one automatically after your label or distributor delivers your first release to the platform.
Once the profile exists, you can connect it to your personal Spotify account through Spotify for Artists. Learn how Spotify artist profiles are created.
What You’ll Need
Before starting, have the following ready:
- A personal Spotify account
- Your Spotify artist profile link or URI
- An official website or artist social media profile
- Access to the email address you want associated with your account
Use a personal Spotify login that you expect to keep long-term. Your artist team, profile access, and permissions will be connected to that login.

How to Claim Your Profile
-
Open Spotify for Artists
Visit Spotify for Artists and choose the option to request access to an artist profile.
Sign in using your personal Spotify account. You do not need to create a separate account under your artist name.
-
Find the Correct Artist Profile
Search for your artist name or paste your Spotify artist link or URI.
Confirm that you selected the correct profile before continuing. Artists often share similar names, so carefully review the releases shown on the page.
-
Confirm Your Role
Choose the option that best describes your connection to the artist, such as artist, manager, or team member.
Only request access to profiles you are authorized to manage.
-
Verify Your Connection
Spotify may ask for links to the artist’s official website or social media accounts to confirm your identity and connection to the profile.
Use active pages that clearly display the same artist name and branding shown on Spotify.
-
Submit Your Request
Review your information and submit the claim.
Spotify manually reviews most requests, so approval may take a few days. Only one active claim request can be submitted for an artist profile at a time.
Review Spotify’s complete profile access and claim instructions.
Claiming a Profile Before Your First Release
You may be able to claim your artist profile before your first release becomes public.
Ask your label or distributor for your Spotify artist link or URI after the release has been delivered. Spotify may also request the UPC or EAN assigned to the upcoming release.
Claiming early gives you time to prepare your profile and pitch an eligible unreleased song before launch. When possible, Spotify recommends pitching your focus track at least two weeks before its release date. Read Spotify’s new-release guidance.
What If the Profile Is Already Claimed?
If another person has already claimed the profile, Spotify will not let you submit another claim to join the existing team.
Ask the current Team Admin to invite you. Team Admins can invite artists, managers, and other trusted team members and assign the appropriate access level.
If you do not know who controls the profile or cannot reach the administrator, contact Spotify for Artists Support.
Never share one Spotify login across an entire team. Each authorized person should be invited using their own account.
What If a Claim Is Pending?
Spotify allows only one active request per artist profile. While a request is under review, another person cannot submit a separate claim.
Spotify will email the applicant after the request is approved or rejected. No additional action is normally required while the request is pending.
After Your Profile Is Approved
Once access is granted, complete the essential parts of your profile:
- Add current artist and header images
- Write a clear artist biography
- Connect your social media accounts
- Add an Artist Pick
- Review your catalog for incorrect or missing releases
- Invite trusted managers or team members
- Review your audience and streaming data
- Check for eligible unreleased music that can be pitched
Spotify provides a complete guide to managing and customizing your artist profile.
Pitching an Upcoming Release
Once your profile is claimed and an upcoming release appears in Spotify for Artists, you can select an eligible unreleased song and submit it for playlist consideration.
Pitching does not guarantee placement, but it gives Spotify’s editorial team information about the song, including its genre, mood, instrumentation, and release plan.

What If Your Music Is on the Wrong Profile?
If your release appears under another artist with the same or a similar name, report the catalog mismatch through Spotify for Artists.
Report music that has been mixed up with another artist.
About Spotify’s Registered Artist Label
Spotify now uses a Registered Artist label in the About section of claimed profiles. The label indicates that the artist profile has been claimed and is actively managed through Spotify for Artists.
It does not change an artist’s visibility, royalties, discovery, or access to Spotify for Artists tools.
